  4. Welcome to the world of Picoware software products!  The prefix
  5. 'pico' (pronounced peeko) means 'very small', but that refers to
  6. price, not function!  We hope you find this program to be a
  7. valuable addition to your software toolbox.

  9. This diskette contains six files:
  10.  
  11.     g-whiz.exe          The actual program
  12.     g-whiz.doc          A documentation file for the program
  13.     readme              This file
  14.     register.txt        A registration form
  15.     catalog.txt         A list of our other software products
  16.     bugs.txt            A bug reporting form
  17.  
  18. The file g-whiz.exe is the program file.  This is the only file
  19. you need to run the program.  G-WHIZ can be copied to another
  20. disk, or to your hard disk, as the program is not copy protected.
  21. We recommend that you make a backup copy of this disk before
  22. using G-WHIZ.
  23.  
  24. The g-whiz.doc file is an ASCII text file that contains detailed
  25. instructions for running G-WHIZ.  You should read this file using
  26. the TYPE command, or you can print it out on your printer.  The
  27. file doesn't contain any formatting commands, so it can be viewed
  28. or printed without fear of strange reactions!

  30. The register.txt file is an ASCII text file.  You should print a
  31. copy of this file on your printer, then fill in the information
  32. and send it to the address specified on the form.  This form
  33. allows us to place you on our mailing list.  This mailing list is
  34. used to inform you of new releases of existing software, and of
  35. new programs coming on the market.

  37. The file catalog.txt is a copy of the Picoware software catalog,
  38. which gives a brief description of all of the products in our
  39. line.
  40.  
  41. The bugs.txt file is a form which you should fill out and mail in
  42. if you discover a bug in a Picoware program.  If you are the
  43. first person to report a bug, we will send you a free copy of the
  44. program, with all bugs fixed to date.

  46. Quick Notes:
  47.  
  48. If you try to run G-WHIZ, and some of the characters are
  49. difficult to read, try running the program with the /b option:
  50.  
  51.     g-whiz /b
  52.  
  53. This will force G-WHIZ to print all characters to the screen
  54. using monochrome attributes.  This fixes problems you might have
  55. if you are running a monochrome monitor with a color graphics
  56. interface.  This problem is more fully described in the
  57. documentation.  (Compaq owners will have to use the /b option...)
  58.  
  59. If you are running from a hard disk, we recommend that you set up
  60. one directory for your commonly used utilities and programs, then
  61. copy g-whiz.exe into that directory.  Then if you set up a search
  62. directory command, you can invoke this program no matter where
  63. you are on the disk.  For example, if you have this disk in the
  64. 'A:' drive, and your hard disk is the 'C:' drive, the following
  65. instructions would accomplish this:

  67.     mkdir c:\utility
  68.     copy a:g-whiz.exe c:\utility
  69.     path c:\utility
  70.

  72. DOS prompt:
